Finally, Pant and Rayadu got the seats to World Cup as reserves

The youth sensational power hitter wicket keeping batsman Rishabh Pant, the veteran middle order batsman Ambati Rayadu, and the speedster Navdeep Saini are kept as India's standbyes for the ICC World Cup 2019 which is going to start in the UK on May 30, as announced by BCCI on Wednesday, 17th April.

"Just like ICC Champions Trophy, we have three standbys. Rishabh Pant and Ambati Rayadu are the first and second standbys while Saini is the bowler in the list. So if anyone gets injured, as per requirement one of the three will be going," a senior BCCI official told PTI on Wednesday.

The exclusion of both the batsman from India's 15-member world cup squad had created a stir in the  world of cricket with many of the legendary cricketers coming out in the support of Pant and Rayadu.
Sunil Gavaskar called Pant's omission surprising as the left handed 20 year old batsman has been the first choice wicket keeper in Tests for India.

Md. Azharuddin also rose in the favour of Pant and said that the boy should have been added to the squad over Dinesh Karthik, who has been given enough chances.

While Gautam Gambhir stood there for Ambati and said that he finds it to be very disappointing that a batsman at the age of 33 averaging 48 has not been given the chance.

Though after the announcements ,the BCCI chairman of selectors, MSK Prasad had made it clear that the principal parameter while looking for Dhoni's back-up in India's World Cup squad was keeping and that's where Pant fell short and the edge was given to Karthik.

However, here on Wednesday Pant and Rayadu were added as the reserves for the World Cup.

Khaleel Ahmed, Deepak Chahar and Avesh Khan will too be travelling with the team but purely as the net bowlers. Saini, the speedster, will also be there but on the reserve side with Pant and Rayadu.

"Khaleel, Avesh and Deepak are not designated stand bys. In case of bowlers, that possibilty is there but when it comes purely to batsman, it will be either Rishabh or Rayadu."
