Ashwin's mankad turned into a twitter disaster

Mankading - Right or Wrong ?

The incident happened during the 4th match of IPL2019 played between Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals where the off spinner removed the bails on the non strikers' end leading to the dismissal of dangerous looking Buttler.

It was the 13th over for the chasing Rajasthan Royals and on the fifth ball, the dangerous looking Buttler was on the non strikers' end. Ashwin initiated his action but after sensing that Buttler was backing up too far, paused during his action and removed off the bails from the non strikers' end. The on-field umpire referred the decision to the TV umpire and the big screen showed it 'OUT'.

Buttler's innings of 69 runs decorated with 10 fours and 2 sixes came to an end with that ball but the discussion over that was not going to end there anyway.

Buttler was given out on the grounds of 'Mankading'.

What is Mankading law ?

Mankading law states that if the non striker is out of his ground from the moment the ball comes into play to the instant when the bowler would normally have been expected to release the ball, the bowler is permitted to attempt to run him out.

But now comes the question that has Ashwin violated the laws ?

Many considered the incident to be unfair by arguing that Ashwin's brief pause during the action increased the expected release time of the ball and the whole incident became a poor display of sportsmanship.

However Ashwin in his post match discussion stated ''No really argument to that (Mankading incident) and it's pretty instinctive. I actually didn't load and he left the crease. I was not even at the crease, he wasn't even looking at me and he just left the place. We ended on the right side of the coin."

Doesn't matter how Ashwin justifies it, the incident created an unending controversy over the issue.

Twitteratis got divided over the spirit of the game by the incident with Ashwin at the bitter end.
